Minutes of committee meeting held on 29 Nov 2007
Present: J Priest, C Stewart, G. McPherson, D.Clark, I.Johnstone In attendance: J. Laroche Apologies for absence: Kay Henderson, Jim Forson, Dan Mclean. Minutes of previous meeting on 30 Aug 2007 and 25 Oct 2007 were agreed to be a correct record.
3. Matters arising:
3.1 Fabric:
Yellow lines done by NorrieDoor closer put on inner door still closing very hard so removed and a spring has been put on the outer door which has proved to be successful at closing the door gently. Roof quotes: nothing to report Neon lights small hall still need permanent repair Curtain in main hall needs fixing Handle has been fixed on disabled loo door New boiler – working well, timer has been set. Scaffolding in garden: still to be uplifted External paintwork- next spring Fridge temp too high- continue to monitor this.
3.2 Small hall redecoration: much discussion on the colour for lower part of wall. Dorothy and Irene volunteered to do this.
3.3 Noticeboard on front wall? To be discussed next time.
3.4 New cooker: agreed Belling range cooker, if sufficient funds [about £1000].
4. Finance/Lets: Playgroup have been asked to pay arrears by the end of the year but will find this hard so a date to be agreed with the treasurer. Letting contract sheet- important that this is handed to lets. Fire risk assessment & action plan- in hand.
5. 200 Club: needs 30-40 new members. Forms to go round doors in the new year and JP to put it in ELDA.
6. Office-bearers and Trustees: As Jill Wareham is the new headteacher at the school she has agreed to be a Trustee of the Hall as has Howard Haslett as minister.
7.Antique fairs –Ideas for generating more interest in the Antique fairs were discussed. We agreed to smarten up the boards where necessary, look at the wording of the boards and press advertisements too.The poster is to be redesigned by Liz Dorrian and the banner to be provided with better fixings on the front wall so it looks smarter. We also decided to write to hall user-groups suggesting they take a stall as a fundraiser to try and generate more customers. We agreed to add a flyer to the 200 Club letter reminding local people to visit the fairs.
8. Art Exhibition- 21st Sept 2008. A sub committee has been set up to organise it.
